UK pubcaster BBC1 has ordered the tentatively titled entertainment format 5 Star Family Reunion  from ITV Studios’ 12 Yard Productions and the Twofour Group-owned Boom Cymru.

The 8 x 50-minute format will see a UK family and its “long lost overseas relatives” working together, both from a studio and over satellite link, to win a family reunion in a five-star location.

The family overseas must answer questions in order to win time for the four family members in the studio, who will individually face questions against a timer in order to win money for the reunion.

The Saturday Night entertainment format is to debut on the pubcaster later this year and will be hosted by British presenter Nick Knowles.

5 Star Family Reunion  is exec produced by Michael Mannes for 12 Yard and Ronw Protheroe for Boom Cymru. It was commissioned by Charlotte Moore, controller of BBC One, and Alan Tyler, executive editor of entertainment commissioning for the BBC.
