Shamlat, Panchayati Land Be Re-Auctioned On 10% Lesser Rate: Sikandar Singh Maluka

The Punjab Government has decided to execute the re-auction of such Shamlat/Panchayati land which had not been taken up by the successful bidders. The re-auction would be executed by lowering the auction amount 10 percent than the previous year’s auction. It was disclosed by Mr. Sikandar Singh Maluka, Rural Development and Pachayat Minister in a press communiqué released here today. He said that instructions in this regards have been issued to all the DDPOs/BDPOs to make arrangements for re-auction by inviting bidders through proper channel. He said that this decision have been taken to provide land to marginalized farmers and landless agriculturist on reasonable rates to help them earn livelihood. He said that all the DDPOs have been mandated to take decision on the spot during auction to curtail the auction amount by 10%. The minister said that the farmers of the state are presently in distress due to the economical loss caused by the inclement weather and untimely rain in the state. He said the farmers are not in position to invest money due to the crop loss. He said that keeping the plight of the farmers in consideration, this decision has been taken to auction the Shamlat/Punchayati land on 10% less amount.The minister further said that a meeting to deliberate upon the issue on various auctions has been convened tomorrow at Vikas Bhawan, Mohali. He said that all the senior officers have been directed to come out with details of auction executed in the state.
