Hunting with cyanide
Country party M.L.A. Mr. M. Kilpatrick declared yesterday that numerous valuable stock, including sheep, cattle and horses "were being destroyed throughout the state by the reckless use of cyanide by opossum hunters". A large number of offenders were travelling by car seeking opossum skins with the use of cyanide poisoned bait. The offence was very prevalent in the southern districts of New South Wales.
Rundown cemetery

Thousands of pounds were needed for repairs, and one suggestion was "selling the street frontages of the cemetery". Government subsidies had not been renewed and "no assistance could be obtained from Newtown Municipal Council", who would prefer it became a park.
