Snapdeal appoints Gaurav Gupta from Silicon Valley as VP

New Delhi, May 20 (UNI) Snapdeal today announced the appointment of well known Silicon Valley Indian Gaurav Gupta as Vice President of its Engineering segment. In his new role, Mr Gupta will spearhead the company’s cloud platform and technology infrastructure, the company said in a statement. ''As the company continues to grow at a fast pace, robust cloud network will endow Snapdeal with the ability to rapidly scale-up operational capabilities. Mr Gupta's appointment to head the cloud services function is in line with company’s efforts towards building specialised domain strengths,'' it said. Mr Gupta comes with over 13 years of experience in building enterprise products. He has spent over a decade in Silicon Valley and has worked with many start-ups and large organizations like Cisco, Symantec etc. His experience ranges from building a storage virtualisation switch, a hybrid cloud platform to the industry's first enterprise database load balancer. Speaking about his appointment, Mr Gupta said, ''Snapdeal’s growth in the technology domain, well-past the start-up phase, has been unprecedented and I believe that the subsequent level of innovation will happen here. In the new cloud platform the underlying infrastructure would be completely abstracted away from the applications and the workloads would get dynamically assigned and reassigned to run on the data center depending on real-time signals from the application. I am excited to be a part of the young and dynamic team of Snapdeal and look forward to inculcate the Silicon Valley culture of disruptive innovation and cross fertilization of ideas.''
