Sturridge tweets injury update

Cape Town - England international striker Daniel Sturridge's fitness update will be a welcome boost to his beleaguered club.

The Anfield club is struggling to deal with the fallout surrounding Raheem Sterling's contract situation at the club and beginning to focus on trying to find a replacement for club legend Steven Gerrard.

The young star reportedly wants to move in the summer and several former players, including Jamie Carragher and John Barnes, have lashed out at Sterling.

Sterling was named the Liverpool Young Player of the Season and was greeted with a chorus of boos on Tuesday night when he collected his accolade.

The club received a welcome boost when Daniel Sturridge tweeted a positive injury update in a season that has been wrecked by a number of injuries.

Liverpool failed to qualify for the Champions League after failing to cope with the high-profile exit of Luis Suarez, which made worse by the fact that Daniel Sturridge played only 12 league games this term.

Manager Brendan Rodgers will be pleased with Sturridge's progress and hoping that the talented striker can play his part in the side's pre-season fixtures in order to help the Merseyside giants retake their place as Premier League contenders for the 2015/16 season.
