FATEHGARH SAHIB: The police here claimed to have cracked a month-old murder case saying that the victim was killed by his younger brother to grab his share of ancestral property. The accused, Charanjit Singh, was also the complainant in the case.
Acting on Charanjit's complaint, police had registered a murder case against unidentified persons on April 10.
He had alleged that some unidentified persons had fatally injured his elder brother Maninder Singh on April 9 evening when he was working in the fields at Ghel village.
However, Fatehgarh Sahib SSP GS Randhawa said police cracked the case on the basis of statements by Charanjit's aide Bikramjit Singh, who revealed the brother's involvement in the murder. "Bikramjit told police that Charanjit had confided in him that the latter had killed his brother to grab his share of land. During questioning, Charanjit confessed to his crime," the SSP said. The police have also recovered the weapon used for the crime.
