DMK leader M. Karunanidhi on Tuesday said he would only hold AIADMK general secretary Jayalalithaa responsible if there was a delay on the part of the Karnataka government in filing an appeal against her acquittal in the disproportionate assets case.

On whether the DMK would prefer an appeal in the Supreme Court against the acquittal, he said the district secretaries meeting on May 25 would take a decision.

Mr. Karunanidhi said the DMK had not given any thought to contesting the by-election to the R.K. Nagar constituency.

“Nobody knows what is happening in Tami Nadu’s democracy. We also do not have the opportunity to know it,” he said.
