Last minute action by an American woman saved the life of her housemaid, according to an official who did not want to be named.

Speaking to ‘Emirates24|7’, the official said the incident happened on Thursday  at one of the shopping malls in Dubai. “An American went to the shopping mall, and left her housemaid in the car.

The sponsor claimed that she left the car engine and the A/C on. She came out after some time, and found her housemaid unconscious.

She started screaming for help, and a Dutch shopper helped her.”

Huda, who helped the woman take her housemaid out of the car, said that she panicked when she saw the American seek help. “I heard her and helped her.

The housemaid was not breathing, and the security guards at the shopping mall were standing there and doing nothing. I asked the security guards to call 999 for help, and they did so.”

She pointed out that the ambulance was on its way, but the housemaid was not breathing, and she needed mouth-to-mouth respiration.

“We asked the security guards if they had any paramedics in the mall, and they said ‘no’. We also asked if anyone of them knew how to do first aid, and they said ‘no’.

Then the sponsor administered mouth-to-mouth respiration for her housemaid, and fortunately, she started breathing. Within 15 minutes of calling 999, the ambulance arrived, and the maid was taken care of,” Huda explained.

The official urged authorities to come up with laws to ensure all shopping malls have paramedics within their premises, or at least train their security guards on first aids.

“Such a huge shopping mall with millions of visitors every month must have at least staff trained in first aid to handle medical emergency.

The housemaid might have died if the sponsor did not do the mouth to mouth respiration,” Huda said.

Huda also urged public not to leave their children or housemaids in the car as the temperatures are too high, and it can lead to unfortunate incidents.
