Pooja Gandhi is Ravan-i

The actress launches her second film as producer, and needless to say, she plays the lead role
Pooja Gandhi is Ravan-i
Actress Pooja Gandhi has launched her second film as producer. It is curiously named Ravani, an invented feminine form of Ravana. Pooja will play the title role and the film will be directed by Chandrachud who is also scripting it. The film will go on floors in August.
Speaking to Mirror, Pooja said, "After making Abhinetri I must have heard over a dozen scripts to produce another movie.
But none interested me. This one was however special. It was not just an amazing story but something very very unique. The first time I heard it i knew I wanted to produce it."
Pooja said the pre production work on the film was under progress. "Abhinetri took a long time and it was a great experience. I have decided to continue as a producer along with being an actor. Production has given me a new perspective and though it is not easy, the work gives you great satisfaction. I love production work and that is reason enough to continue producing films," she said.
Director Chandrachud returns to direction after five years. He said, "The word Ravani does not exist in Kannada. It was coined for the film. There is no reference film I can cite for the story we have on hand, but it is turning out to be as unique as the title itself."
Though it sounds like the female form of Ravana, Pooja says it is not a negative character. "I am at a point of life now where I can say there is no one who is completely positive or completely negative. Even this character. Ravana was not just a villain. He had so many characteristics. He was a great strategist for one. Not just the role I am playing but all characters in the film will have their own unique points."
