IUML district president Syed Sadikali Shihab Thangal with UDF march captain M.M. Hassan at the inaugural of the UDF zonal march in Malappuram on Tuesday.

A zonal march of the United Democratic Front (UDF) organised to reach out to the masses with the government’s achievements began here on Tuesday.

Inaugurating the rally here, Indian Union Muslim League district president Syed Sadikali Shihab Thangal said the enthusiastic reception being accorded to the march was indications that people had accepted the government and its deeds.

He said the UDF would come to power again in the Assembly elections. “Never before did Kerala witness a time when so much of development took place in the State,” he said.

LDF flayed

The Thangal said there was no major issue within the UDF. “All differences can easily be solved through talks,” he said, adding that the Left Democratic Front (LDF) would not come back to power in the State.

District Congress Committee president E. Mohammed Kunhi presided.

District convener P. Abdul Hameed welcomed the gathering. UDF march captain M.M. Hassan, vice captain C.P. John, Minister for Education P.K. Abdu Rabb, Minister for Urban Affairs Manjalamkuzhi Ali, Chief Whip Thomas Unniyadan, MLAs P. Ubaidulla, N. Shamsuddin, K.N.A. Khader and P.M.A. Salam, Housing Board chairman Arakkal Balakrishna Pillai, and leaders of UDF constituents spoke.

The march was accorded reception at Angadipuram, Perinthalmanna, Pandikkad, and Wandoor. It will resume from Nilambur on Wednesday morning and conclude at Kottakkal in the evening.
