Lokayukta police trapped a private party accepting a bribe of Rs 2.24 lakh on behalf of three government officials

BENGALURU: The Tahsildar of Hoskote taluk and three others were arrested after the Lokayukta police trapped a private party accepting a bribe of Rs 2.24 lakh on behalf of three government officials on Tuesday.

Tahsildar Kotresh H, Revenue Inspector of Sulibele Circle; Srinivas Shetty, Second Division Assistant at Hoskote Tahsildar’s office; Nagaraju K. and Muniyappa, a private party, were arrested.

According to the police, one H. Madhu had submitted a land conversion application at the Tahsildar’s office related to the 6.34 acre of land in Bagalur village. When he approached Kotresh, Srinivas Shetty, and Nagaraju, they had allegedly demanded a bribe of Rs 2.24 lakh to get the job done.

“As Madhu was not willing to pay the bribe, he filed a complaint with the Lokayukta police on April 28. A trap was laid at the Tahsildar’s office on Tuesday. When private party Muniyappa received the bribe amount of Rs. 2.24 lakh at the behest of Nagaraju, he was trapped,” the police said.
