The CPI (M) district committee on Tuesday launched a 21-day district-wide bus yatra in Bhadrachalam demanding job quota for weaker sections in the private sector.
CPI (M) Telangana State secretary Tammineni Veerabhadram and Director of Centre for the Study of Social Exclusion and Inclusive Policy, Kancha Ilaiah flagged off the bus yatra in the tribal heartland of Bhadrachalam.
Bhadrachalam MLA Sunnam Rajaiah, CPI (M) district secretary P Sudarshan Rao, State committee member Nunna Nageswara Rao and others were present.
To mount pressure on Centre, State
Speakers at the ceremony said the bus yatra was being organised to mount pressure on the Central government to ensure job quota for SCs, STs, BCs and minorities in the private sector to usher in social justice and upliftment of the weaker sections.
Public meeting
The CPI (M) district committee has embarked on the bus yatra coinciding with the death anniversary of the legendary Communist leader Puchalapalli Sundaraiah. The bus yatra will culminate into a public meeting in Khammam town on June 8, they said.
