Disclose files on Netaji, Swamy urges Centre

May 20, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 06:09 am IST - MADURAI:

The Union government should disclose the files pertaining to the “mysterious disappearance” of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, said VHS (Virat Hindustan Sangam) founder-president and BJP leader Subramanian Swamy here on Tuesday.

Leading a demonstration at the Jhansi Rani Park, he said the Centre should disclose the details in public interest and if it failed to do so before August 15, he would approach the Supreme Court.

Though, in the past, the Union government had formed three committees to unravel the mystery behind his disappearance, their conclusions were not satisfactory. To put an end to all the speculations and doubts, the Centre should bring out the facts, he said.

Jayalalithaa case appeal

Later, speaking to reporters, Dr. Swamy said that he would take a call on moving the Supreme Court against the Karnataka High Court verdict in the disproportionate assets case against Jayalalithaa after knowing the outcome of the Karnataka government’s Cabinet meeting scheduled for May 21. “There are not only arithmetic mistakes in the judgment but also other aspects. I will take them up in my appeal,” Dr. Swamy said.

He dismissed as “hypothetical” a question whether he would be interested in contesting in the RK Nagar Assembly constituency in Chennai, vacated by an AIADMK MLA.
