Director General of Police J.V. Ramudu on Tuesday said that his department would unleash the power of technology to ensure people-friendly policing.

Inaugurating an Instant Complaint Lodging Internet Kiosk (I-CLIK) here, he said I-CLIK, which enabled people to lodge complaints without visiting the police station, had got a very good response since its launch in Visakhapatnam in January. More such kiosks would be opened with the assistance of public sector banks across the State to enable vulnerable people to lodge complaints without fear, he added.

More IT-enabled systems would be put in place to ensure effective policing, he added. He said the Police Department would shifted in phases from Hyderabad to Vijayawada and this would cost a whopping Rs 7,000 crore. Over 3,700 acres of land had been identified for the purpose, he added.
