Jalandhar, May 19

Daughter of doctor parents, Jalandhar-based Mannat Mahajan, has grabbed the third rank in the Punjab PMET exam. Articulate and humble, Mannat said she had never imagined that she would get the third rank in the state. Mannat’s father Dr. Rajesh Mahajan is an anaesthetist and mother Dr. Namita Mahajan is a general physician – both working in Jalandhar.

Speaking about her study regime, Mannat said, “My teachers and parents never pressured me to score better. My mantra has always been to work hard and work efficiently. Because it’s not the number of hours you put in but the work you put in the hours that you study.”

On her plans for the future, she said, “I want to be a cardiac surgeon. There are a few more exams I have to take and I am also awaiting the results of AIPMET. If the national results also turn out good, I will take admission to a national medical institute.”
