The BRICS countries must cooperate to avoid export competition, Tatiana Monaghan, Civil BRICS coordinator and Secretary General of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) Russia said Tuesday.

MOSCOW (Sputnik), Alexander Mosesov — Answering a question posed by Sputnik on economic cooperation within the BRICS countries, Russia, Brazil, India, China and South Africa, Monaghan pointed out Russian-Chinese cooperation in the agricultural sector and Russian-Indian cooperation in the car industry.

"If you look at the exports of the BRICS countries, many of the positions coincide, which would make us competitors in some way. Competition is a natural stimulus for the development of the country but we must learn to negotiate and not to ruin markets, to complement them."

"We can gather experience, knowledge of different countries within BRICS and create a single product that can afterwards be promoted on the exterior market," Monaghan said at a press conference held at Rossiya Segodnya press center in Moscow.

Monaghan, along with other Russian experts, is a member of the new Civil BRICS working group, an innovative political process to be implemented for first time during the 2015 BRICS summit. Russia is this year's chair and will host the group's seventh summit in July, 2015.
