Told Russian women can't teach you how to wear dhoti, but can tell you how to remove it: Babulal Gaur

NEW DELHI: The Congress party on Tuesday criticized Madhya Pradesh home minister Babulal Gaur for his controversial "dhoti" remark made at a state-level BJP convention.
"It is shameful what Gaur has said. He has been making such comments about women time and time again. This exposes his and his party's mindset as far as women are concerned. Gaur should immediately apologize for his comment," Congress spokesperson Shobha Oza told ANI.
On Sunday, 85-year-old Gaur had reportedly disclosed to party workers that he had once told the wife of a Russian leader that though he couldn't show her how to wear a dhoti, he could teach her how to remove it.
"I told her I can't teach you how to wear it, but I can certainly teach you how to remove it, but that too later not now," the minister said, according to reports.
Babulal Gaur has made some controversial statements on rape and women in the past too.
