Kolar registered a slight improvement in the II PU results which were announced on Monday to secure the 18th position in the State with 63.58 per cent pass percentage.
The district was in the 19th place last year with a 56.30 per cent pass. This academic year, district recorded 7.38 percent increase in the result to jump to the 18th place, Deputy Director of Pre-University Education M.G. Doreswamy said.
As many as 15,822 students in the district appeared for the second II PU examinations held in March.
First place
R. Eshwari of SDC College here has emerged as the district topper in science stream with 588 marks.
Mr. Doreswamy counselled students who have not cleared the examinations not to lose heart. He also called upon parents not to scold their wards for their failure in the examinations. “One examination is not the whole life. There are chances in supplementary examinations”, he said.
