Brandon Nimmo diagnosed with sprained ACL

NEW YORK -- 2011 first-round pick Brandon Nimmo, who was injured while stepping on first base while playing with Double-A Binghamton on Friday, has been diagnosed with a sprained ACL in his left knee.

Nimmo was examined by Dr. Andrew Pearle at the Hospital for Special Surgery in Manhattan. The team announced that Nimmo can resume baseball activity when the knee is pain-free.

Nimmo, 22, is hitting .297 with two homers and nine RBIs in 138 at-bats with the B-Mets.
