MPPEB scam whistleblower claims sixth attempt on life in Gwalior, files FIR

BHOPAL: Youngest whistle-blower in MPPEB scam, Ashish Chaturvedi, who have accused Madhya Pradesh chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan of influencing the probe, has alleged yet another attempt on his life in Gwalior district of MP on Monday.
This is believed to be fifth attack on him in last six months.
He lodged a fresh FIR at Jhansi Road police station alleging while he was on way to home on his cycle after meeting an IPS officer a biker rode up along his side and attacked him with a blunt object on his head.The incident took place near Chetakpuri Square at 12.50 pm.
“He was on a black Pulser bike wearing black clothes. My security officer was on his cycle a few meters from me. We were being chased for long. When my security guard was left behind due to traffic, biker came close to me and hit me on my head… I fell down,” said Chaturvedi.
He was taken for medical examination. Police have registered a case against unidentified person in this regard.
“On May 20, I have to depose before Gwalior bench of MP high court in a MPPEB scam case. My statement would be recorded against Rahul Yadav, who secured admission in MBBS course despite having failed his class 12th examination. Yadav is directly linked to an IPS officer’s son-in-law involved in the case,” he claimed.
Madhya Pradesh high court, Jabapur had taken a serious note of the previous attack on Chaturvedi on November 2 last year and directed Special Task Force (STF) to conduct an inquiry.
Chaturvedi had exposed those close to Chouhan and seven others for their role in the MPPEB scam.
In one of the attacks he was surrounded and pinned down near Gwalior’s Dal Bazar area and thrashed even as his personal security officer stood a mute spectator.
Last week, a special court in Gwalior directed state government to provide lifetime security to Chaturvedi after taking cognizance of mysterious deaths of eight people linked to scam. He commutes on a bicycle.
Subsequently, police posted a bicycle-borne security officer to guard Chaturvedi after two of his previous security officers refused to continue with him on grounds that they cannot pillion ride on a bicycle carrying AK-47 and Insas rifle.
Chaturvedi claims to have survived five attacks on his life, including an abduction bid. He has moved an application, claiming threat to his life from chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and 30 others involved in the scam. He also approached Prime Minister Narendra Modi, claiming Chouhan was trying to influence the probe.
