Man robbed of Rs2m in Pindi

Rawalpindi - Two armed robbers snatched Rs 2 million from a citizen here at Gulshandadan Khan Stop, reliable sources told The Nation on Monday.
The victim was going to deposit the money in a nearby bank. The robbers fled the crime scene while displaying weapons that put a question mark on the performance of police and newly formed Muhafiz Squad, which are supposed to curb street crimes.
According to sources and an eyewitness, a citizen Abdul Wahab was on his way to deposit Rs 2 million in a bank when two unknown intruders intercepted him at gunpoint.
Police reached the crime scene late and collected evidence. The victim reported the incident to police station New Town.
On the other hand, a speeding car hit a motorcycle on Airport Road, killing one of the riders on the spot and injuring the other critically. Rescue 1122 shifted the dead body and the injured to Benazir Bhutto Hospital for medical treatment.
According to details, a speedy car smashed into a motorcycle with two persons on board. As a result, Amir Waheed, 50, died on the spot while Irfan sustained multiple injuries. Police arrested the accused driver and started investigation after filing a case against him.
