Guwahati: They have suffered and fought all odds to take their board exams. Over 120 homeless candidates from the Bodo and Adivasi communities, who took the Class X and XII state boards, are expecting to do well even as they battle the most adverse of circumstances.
The results are expected to be announced later this month.
The students are currently staying in a relief camp run by a Kokrajhar-based organization, NEDAN.

An official of the NGO that provided shelter to 120 candidates who were rendered homeless following the December 23 violence, on Monday said, close to 20 students are expecting a first division. They bear their families’ expectations and hope to be agents of change.
The NGO and the district administration worked together to help the candidates by providing food, shelter, books and even clothes. The NGO will bear the educational expenses of those who took the Class X boards for the next two years. Of the 120 candidates, 26 appeared for the HS exams.
The Kokrajhar administration on Monday said it would sponsor the educational expenses of those who fare well in the Class XII exams.
“The district administration will help the candidates who secure a first division,” said Kokrajhar DC Thaneshwor Mallakar.
