The district has secured the 17th position in the PUC examinations this year, the results of which were announced on Monday.
Belagavi slipped from the 14th place last year to the 17th place this year, even though the overall pass percentage rose from 58.7 per cent to 64.87 per cent.
“This is because there was an overall improvement in the pass percentage across the State,” Deputy Director of PU Education G.A. Tigadi told The Hindu .
He added that three colleges have secured 100 per cent results this year. In Belagavi rural, 12,014 students wrote the examination out of which 8,042 passed while in Belagavi Urban 23,595 appeared and 15,056 passed.
