The police on Monday arrested three persons and recovered a stolen lorry containing copper wires worth over Rs. 96 lakh from Bengaluru.

On May 8, the lorry driver, M. Moorthy (27) of Thinoor village in Pennagaram Block, was plying copper wires worth Rs. 96.87 lakh from a private company in Tuticorin to a company in Bangalore. On May 9, around 3pm he parked the lorry with goods at a petrol bunk in Nagadasampatti village and left for home. When he returned on May 10, he found the lorry with the goods missing. Efforts to locate the vehicle also failed as he later lodged a complaint with Papparapatti police station who in turn registered a case.

A team led by Inspector of Police Rathnakumar began inquiries and picked up S. Bharathi (30) of Gorwrichettipatti, C. Ezhilarasu (26) of Pudupatti and S. Pushparaj (26) of Sogathur for questioning. It was revealed that the three knew Moorthy and also about his activities. The three stole the vehicle from the petrol bunk at midnight and drove it to Hollahalli in Bengaluru and concealed it. The lorry, worth Rs. 15 lakh, along with the goods was recovered by the team. The police arrested the culprits who were produced in the court and lodged in prison.

Superintendent of Police J. Loganathan congratulated the police team.
