Describing Siddaramaiah as the “most arrogant and egoistic” Chief Minister Karnataka had ever seen, BJP national vice-president B.S. Yeddyurappa on Monday declared that he would dedicate the next three years working towards bringing the party back to power in Karnataka.

“I am not an aspirant for a berth in the Union Cabinet. My entire time will now be earmarked for strengthening the party in the State,” said Mr. Yeddyurappa at a meet-the-press programme organised by the Bangalore Reporters’ Guild and Press Club of Bangalore.

The BJP strongman, who has been keeping a low profile ever since his re-entry into the party, said he would be his old active self from now on.

Taking a dig at Mr. Siddaramaiah for rejecting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s invitation to join him on the China tour, Mr. Yeddyurappa alleged that the Chief Minister had completely neglected the State’s development.

Alleging that industries had started shifting base from Karnataka to other States, he urged the government to come out with a status report on how many industries have been set up in the State in the last two years.

Mr. Yeddyurappa challenged him for a debate comparing Mr. Modi’s one year administration with the 10-year rule of the UPA.

“The fact that Mr. Siddaramaiah had nothing to highlight about his government’s achievements was visible at the second anniversary event in Davangere as he dedicated the entire event to attack the BJP rather than deliberate on his own achievements,” he remarked.
