The Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) has written a letter to the All India Congress Committee (AICC) seeking disciplinary action against Yanam MLA Malladi Krishna Rao for his anti-party activities.
Speaking to reporters here on Wednesday, PCC president A.V. Subramanian said that Mr. Rao had been constantly speaking in support of the ruling AINRC and also appreciated the budget presented by the Chief Minister N. Rangasamy.
The PCC has written a letter to the high command as Mr. Rao was violating the party discipline. The violations cannot be brooked and the party would reconstitute the regional level committees in Yanam as had been done in Karaikal.
All those who are against the party would be weeded out. The party was also contemplating bifurcation of the units in Puducherry and Karaikal on the lines of the DMK.
Mr. Subramanian said that those who acted against the party’s interests would never be fielded in forthcoming elections.
In the past people who had betrayed the party had been able to get the tickets after approaching the high command either by hook or crook.
This would not be allowed in future.
Soft pedalling
When asked about the action against Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament P. Kannan, he said that the high command was soft pedalling in taking action since this would impact the role of the party in the Upper House.
The PCC would soon organise a major agitation in front of the Employment Exchange protesting against indiscriminate backdoor appointment.
Mr. Subramanian also urged the Government to withdraw the decision to conduct online counselling for admission to professional colleges through the Centralised Admission Committee (CENTAC).
Rural students
The system would affect students from rural areas. The government should also include elected representatives in the committee constituted for verification of certificates of candidates applying through CENTAC, he said.
