Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com reports that Yankees right-hander Chase Whitley will undergo season-ending Tommy John surgery after being diagnosed with a partially torn ulnar collateral ligament in his elbow.

Whitley was added to the Yankees’ rotation as an injury replacement earlier this month, but made just two starts before being shut down and will be sidelined until at least the middle of next year.

Whitley, who was a 15th-round draft pick in 2010, has a 5.02 ERA and 76/23 K/BB ratio in 95 total innings as a major leaguer since making his debut in 2014.
