Sai Deodhar: I am very content with just television

'The way relationships are showcased on TV has changed, which is nice. You’re showing remarriages, a daughter getting her mother married again, etc. This is something that wasn’t acceptable earlier,' she said.
On plans for Bollywood
While a lot of TV actors are always looking to venture into films, Sai’s happy where she is. She said, 'I am very content with TV, you get a lot of success and popularity here.If a film happens then fine, but even if it doesn’t, that’s fine, too. I feel like TV gives you a lot more. I’ve seen very talented actors who go on to do miniscule roles in films and go so unnoticed, just because it’s a film. Whereas the kind of platform TV gives you is huge – people are noticing your work every day. So I get a little hurt when TV actors who’re doing so well have this thing ki film toh honi hi chahiye.'

On getting into production
Sai has just produced a Marathi film, but even though she and her husband had produced a TV show in the past, there are no plans to do that again. She said, 'That was a huge, huge, huge failure. The logistics of producing a TV show are very different, and at this point of time in my life neither I nor Shakti are ready for that. I enjoy film production but I’m scared of TV production.'
On working with kids
Udaan has many child actors, and Sai admitted that it’s not the easiest thing to work with them. 'For the kids, it’s a hobby but for us it’s a career. Par agar unka mann nahi hai toh nahi karna hai unhe. But even when we’re on a tight schedule and the director is losing patience, acting toh pyaar se karwani hai inse because kuch bhi keh do toh ekdum murjha jaate hain. But on the other hand, there is so much positivity on our sets because of them. There’re four-five of them so sometimes they forget that they’re there to work and they start playing together, but otherwise inki wajah se bahut chehel-pehel rehti hai,' she said.
