BHOPAL: Two engineers were suspended in Shivpuri on Saturday after state animal husbandry minister Kusum Mehedele was not able to get sleep in PWD circuit house due to defunct air-conditioners. She also complained of mosquito bites.
She stayed in circuit house 10 days ago while camping in Shivpuri to chair a district planning committee meeting. The two PWD sub-engineers suspended were K K Shrivastava and Vijay Jain.
Discom general manager, RK Singh, was also slapped with a showcause notice.
Collector Shivpuri Rajiv Dubey said, “Action was taken because of irregularities in the circuit house. Minister’s discomfort was also a reason.”
Talking to TOI, minister Mehedele said, “It is summer. The heat was unbearable and mosquitoes made life miserable in the circuit house. But, I did not demand suspension of engineers. But should this be a story for you? I would be happy talking about development.”
When her attention was drawn to once-a-week water supply, dilapidated roads, overflowing sewage, errant power supply, open drains and roaming pigs, Mehedele said she would clarify all issues.
“Roads are being dug because drains are being constructed. Every day, 500 pigs are being killed or caught, water is being supplied every alternate day and setting up of colleges is being handled by the chief minister,” she said.
