NBBF president, D’ Tigers captain assure on AAG, Afrobasketball championship
President of the Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBF), Tijani Umar and the captain of the male national team, D’Tigers, Olumide Oyedeji, have assured that the teams would pick one of the tickets for the 2015 All Africa Games billed to hold in Congo.
The men and women basketball national teams resumed training last week in Abuja ahead of the Afrobasketball Championship.
Umar, who was at the Power Force basketball programme organized by Africare and the NBA at the weekend in Abuja, told The Guardian that the national teams’ preparations have commenced at the training camp in Abuja, stressing that the federation was working hard to ensure that Nigeria performed well in the championships.
Umar disclosed that about 13 players were already in the D’ Tigers camp, adding that Nigeria’s US-based WNBA player, Chiney Ogwumike, was drafted to meet and talk to the women team as a mark of motivation and encourage them to do well in both the Afrobasketball championship and the AAG.
