The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) has completed organisational elections in five districts in the State. The party conducted an opinion poll within the party through IVRS on prospective leaders.

In Krishna district, Bachulu Arjunudu was elected party district president and Buddha Venkanna elected urban president.

MP Sitaramalakshmi has been re-elected as president of West Godavari district unit. Likewise, Anantapur district unit re-elected Parthasarathi as its president. Anantapur Urban MLA Prabhakar Chowdary reportedly evinced interest in the post saying he would take up the mantle if Mr. Parthasarathi was not interested. However, Mr. Parthasarathy was re-elected. Vinukonda MLA Anjaneyulu and Beeda Ravichandra Yadav were unanimously elected as presidents of Guntur and Nellore districts. Dwarapureddy Jagadish and I.V.P. Elections in East Godavari, Kurnool, Kadapa and Prakasam districts will be held on Monday. The party elicited opinion from rank and file on Magunta Srinivasulu Reddy. However, there are chances of continuing D. Janardhan.

Bommineni Muralikrishna was elected president of the TDP Ongole urban unit, while Sk. Kapil Basha was elected as general secretary Visakhapatnam and Srikakulam districts completed the opinion poll. Senior leaders in those districts announced that the party high command would announce the names of party president and other office-bearers.

Chief Minister and TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu has been authorised to take a decision in regard to Visakhapatnam rural and Chittoor districts where rivalry between groups has resulted in a stalemate in the election of the presidents of the respective district units. TDP sources said Mr. Naidu might take a decision by Monday.
