Spreading Philippino Style Here
Adapting to the lifestyle of a foreign country is always hard.
But for Philippino widow Arsenia Villaiuei, 68, reviving the aspects of her culture was always a goal whenever she sells at the RoC Market in Suva.
Mrs Villaiuei has been living in Fiji for the last seven years. She was among more than 100 people selling their products at the ROC Market in Suva yesterday.
“I sell Philippino food here so it can be known in Fiji,” she said.
“My stall is usually a meeting point for the Philippino community during the market day because we do not have restaurants here that specifically prepare Philippino food so that is why they are usually out at this time when it is available.”
Mrs Villaiuei sells fish fingers, chicken and pork dumplings, pork meat loaf, fish and vegetable spring rolls and other varieties during the RoC Market day.
“I earn very good money here. It’s also good to see the local people coming to buy Philippino foods.”
Despite the gloomy weather many turned up to shop.
