The Trieste Film Festival’s When East Meets West co-production mart, Rome’s New Cinema Network, and London’s Film London Production Finance market, have joined forces in a new initiative called TRL Espresso that seeks to open up new avenues for projects seeking international financing.

One feature-length project budgeted at over one million euros among those pitching at Trieste’s WEMW in January 2016 will also get a spot at Rome’s NCN co-production market and will also participate at the Film London PFM. Both events are in October.

Eligible projects must be feature-length, fiction or documentaries in any language, made for theatrical release with at least 20/30 percent of their financing in place.

The call for applications to WEMW will open in September 2015. Execs representing each market will pick the lucky one among those submitted to Trieste.

As well as strengthening ties between the three events, the initiative aims to provide Trieste’s WEMW with a wider pool of applicants.

The upcoming 2016 edition of WEMW will focus in particular on Spain, Portugal and Latin America.

For Rome, which is radically revamping and expanding its market structure, TRL Espresso will strengthen its “focus on international synergies and essential networking activities,” said Piera Detassis head of the Fondazione Cinema per Roma which oversees the Rome fest and market, in a statement.
