Murder accused MSU student remanded to two days of police custody

The M S University student accused of killing 25-year-old Abhimanyu Patel has been remanded to police custody for two days. Pratik Singh and his two friends Jimil Patel and Gaurav Solanki were produced before a local court after they were arrested by the police recently.

VADODARA: The M S University student accused of killing 25-year-old Abhimanyu Patel has been remanded to police custody for two days. Pratik Singh and his two friends Jimil Patel and Gaurav Solanki were produced before a local court after they were arrested by the police recently. While Singh is accused of stabbing Patel, Jimil and Gaurav were booked for helping him flee from the spot.
The cops have acquired CCTV footage of the incident in Vishwas Colony wherein the Singh and Patel are being seen exchanging blows.
“Interrogation of the accused revealed that Patel had yelled at Singh who was driving his two-wheeler in speed. It was a minor dispute that turned ugly with the fight. Singh said that he had bought the knife some time ago from Mt Abu and he kept it with him for his security,” said a senior police official.
Investigations also showed that one of the accused Gaurav Solanki was arrested by the police some time ago in rioting case in Sayajigunj. “Solanki is son of former head constable who was posted in Raopura. Patel and his friends were talking a walk after watching IPL match. Our investigations showed that there was no rivalry between the deceased and the accused. The murder happened in the heat of the moment,” the police official added.
Abhimanyu’s friends said that he was recluse and was always into his hobby of body building. The police is also gathering details of Abhimanyu from his friends and accomplices. Son of a transport firm owner, Abhimanyu used to study MBA in Australia and he was now working with his father.
