Nature survey starts

A FIELD survey has begun at the Hoh Xil nature reserve on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau to evaluate its natural resources, an official said yesterday. The research will involve an evaluation of the biodiversity, geographical and geological situation of the area, as well as its water resources, said Wang Hailin, a publicity official for the reserve. The survey team will also assess the region’s infrastructure due to an increasing number of newly formed lakes, some of which pose a flood risk to nearby roads and power transmission lines, Wang said.
