S. Ashwin’s all-round performance and Siddharth Prakash’s solid innings carried the day for FSCA in the final of the sixth edition of the Dr. KSL-FSCA under-12 tournament recently.
Chasing CSSF’s total of 175, the host reached home in the last over with six wickets in hand.
Ashwin, who prised out three CSSF batsmen with his left-arm spin, guided the team home with an unbeaten 64, while Siddharth contributed 50.Asked about his strategy in the match, Ashwin said: “I bowled only on or around the off-stump in an effort to check the flow of runs. I got rewarded with three wickets too. While batting, I decided to wait for the loose balls and punish them.”
Ashwin, who idolises Ravindra Jadeja and roots for CSK in the IPL, dreams to make it big one day.
The DonAnother player who has created interest through his name — Jeswin Bradman — was also in good form in the tournament. In fact, it was his knock of 95 that propelled CSSF to a challenging score.
Jeswin, who likes Virat Kohli “for his strokes and the way he finds the gaps”, wants to score tons and tons of runs, and do justice to his name. As for his favourite IPL side, he is an ardent supporter of Rajasthan Royals.
V.S. Nitin of WGCA had the distinction of scoring the only century in the tournament, his innings taking his team to a thumping win over Unique CA in the league phase. He was also in the thick of action behind the stumps, claiming 15 victims.
The scores (final): CSSF 174 for six in 25 overs (Sri Abishek 42, Jeswin Bradman 95, S. Ashwin three for 38) lost to FSCA 175 for four in 24.1 overs (Siddharth Prakash 50, S.Ashwin 64 not out).
