With Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu announcing his intentions to shift administration to Vijayawada beginning June 2, the district administration is racing against time to complete works on the Chief Minister’s camp office, the campus that would accommodate the Chief Minister during his stay in the city.

The camp office will consist of the Chief Minister’s chambers, Cabinet meeting hall, dining rooms, rest rooms, VIP waiting rooms, offices for the Chief Secretary and Principal Secretaries in the CMO, security block, surveillance wing and others.

It is a going to be a hi-tec office in all aspects like security, administration and others. Everything is being monitored closely and even construction workers are being scanned.

The security audit has been completed and police department has already taken charge of the office, said Collector Babu. A.

Located on the premises of the Irrigation office in the heart of the city, the works on the camp office had been delayed by close to a month. Officials are busy supervising the completion of the works for which the month-end has been set as the deadline.

The total budget for the works was estimated at Rs.6 crore, but official sources said the expenditure had exceeded the estimates.

Government had already released sufficient funds to different departments for taking up the works.

District Collector Babu. A, is regularly inspecting the works and instructing officials and contractors to complete the Chief Minister’s camp office works at the earliest.

The Chief Minister is likely to conduct administrative works for three days a week from the office here. On Wednesday, Deputy Inspector General P.V.S Ramakrishna arrived in the city and inspected the works at the Irrigation Guest House.
