YSR Congress president Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy launched a scathing attack on the government and especially against Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu over the issue of farm and SHG loan waiver schemes.
Speaking at an interactive public meeting at Uravakonda, Mr. Jaganmohan Reddy accused the government of “going back” on every one of its promises made prior to the elections.
“This is the true face of Mr. Naidu,” he said.
Responding to the Chief Minister’s statement that the government would start crediting Rs 3,000 each into the accounts of SHG women beneficiaries as first instalment as against the Rs. 10,000 promised, Mr Jaganmohan Reddy reminded Mr. Naidu’s promise of waiving SHG loans in total and not only Rs. 10,000.
“Prior to elections, he asked each one of you not to pay your loans saying the TDP government was committed to waive the loans. If it takes one year for the government to pay the first instalment, it is hard to imagine how many more years it will take to clear the rest,” he said. Many women complained that they did not receive any support from the government at a time when the bankers went about their job adjusting their savings against outstanding loans and threatening them with auction of property.
