Sporadic rain in Thanjavur district

Sporadic and widespread rain lashed several parts of Thanjavur district on Friday too in continuation of the wet spell that has maintained the mercury level in the dog days at a pleasant range. While heavy downpour drenched Sengipatti, Alakkudi areas in the afternoon, there was drizzle in Thanjavur town during the day though the sky remained overcast. In the eastern parts of the district, the suburbs of Kumbakonam experienced some showers during the day while Adirampattinam and Peravoorani regions too recorded some rainfall. In the 24 hours ending 8.30 a.m. Friday, Tiruvaiyaru recorded 27 mm rainfall, followed by Peravoorani 20, Pattukkottai 14.5, Madukkur and Vettikkadu 9.6 each, Eachanviduthi 9.4, Orathanad 8.2, Neivasal Thenpathi 7.8, Kurunkulam and Vallam 7 each and Thanjavur 2 mm.
