A rundown, century-old Vancouver home with a single room occupancy designation close to the city’s Downtown Eastside has hit the market, and realtors are hoping to command top dollar for the sale.

The 2,800-square-foot four storey home at 320 Union Street, in Strathcona, was most recently a single-family home, but has been vacant for at least a decade.

The six-bedroom, two-bath home is listed for $1,395,000.

With a listing boasting a “solid” home with 10-foot ceilings and original staircases and stained glass windows, the electrical and plumbing need to be completely redone and there is no kitchen.

Stonehouse Team Realty said the home’s zoning would allow for up to five strata units, and whoever buys it could either opt to renovate the home and add a coach house or just “start fresh.”

The company said it’s up to the buyer whether it will be converted back to an SRO.

The home is close to the False Creek flats, where the new St. Paul’s Hospital is slated to break ground in coming years.
