Bosnalijek general sponsor of the Third Congress of BiH Pharmacists

The third congress of pharmacists of Bosnia and Herzegovina opened

The third congress of BiH pharmacists with international participation on the topic "Evidence-based pharmacy" was opened last night, May 14, 2015 by Draženka Maličbegović, assistant to the Minister of Civil Affairs of BiH. The Congress participants were then addressed by Prim. Zahida Binakaj Bsc.Pharm., the Congress's Organizational Board president and Prof.Dr. Lejla Begić, the Scientific Board president.

President Binakaj pointed out at the official opening ceremony that pharmacy as a profession and calling is of exceptional importance to the society as a whole, and that pharmacy and its importance will be promoted at the Congress in order to raise awareness and point to the necessity of proper communication between pharmacists as healthcare professionals and patients.

"By organizing the Congress we are showing that we can overcome all obstacles created by the organization and politics in our country. At the same time, through the Congress we will show that all those who want to destroy the reputation of pharmacy cannot succeed in that", pointed out president Binakaj.

"This Congress means continuity in our endeavors to keep up with the newest achievements from the field of pharmaceutical science and profession", stressed professor Begić in her address. As was further pointed out by professor Begić, the goals of the Congress are, among other things, to highlight the problems of unharmonized education in the field of pharmacy, whose most devastating consequence is a hyperproduction of incompetent staff and unfair competition. Besides that, the Congress is an opportunity to create new contacts and relations within the profession and science, but also to strengthen the existing ones, at the international and the state level alike.

Bosnalijek's CEO Nedim Uzunović pointed out on this occasion that the role of pharmacists has an important place in the healthcare system today, taking into consideration that the self-treatment trend is on the rise globally.

"Therefore the pharmacist is a key person who needs to have an extremely high level of knowledge and skills in order to as adequately as possible answer the patient's needs in the self-treatment process ", pointed out Bosnalijek's CEO Uzunović. With the aim of maximally contributing to the exchange of experiences and professional development of pharmacy as a profession, Bosnalijek organized the arrival of more than 100 pharmacists from the wider region to the Congress.

More than one thousand pharmacists from BiH, region and the world are participating in the work of the Congress.
