Ford of Europe has announced that its bestselling B-segment hatch, the Ford Fiesta, will receive a host of minor updates for 2015, with new colours, revamped styling and equipment options and broader engine choices for certain variants.
The biggest change is on the ECOnetic model, which ditches its 1.6 litre TDCi turbodiesel for a new 1.5 litre mill that enables the efficiency-minded variant to deliver fuel consumption of just 3.2 litres per 100 km, down from 3.3 litres per 100 km. CO2 emissions have also dropped to 82 grams per kilometre – a reduction of 5 g/km from the previous model and 16 g/km since the ECOnetic model went on sale in 2008.
Elsewhere in the range, the Red and Black Edition models, previously available solely with the high-power 140 PS 1.0 litre EcoBoost petrol three-pot, can now be specced with the 125 PS version of that engine (which we also get) as well as a 95 PS 1.5 litre TDCi. Concurrently, Titanium and Sport models can now be had with the 140 PS 1.0 EcoBoost, hitherto reserved for the Red and Black Editions.
In terms of equipment, the Trend trim now gets halogen projector headlights with LED daytime running lights – previously available only from the Titanium model up – as well as a leather steering wheel and handbrake handle. Moving up, the Titanium model receives a chrome lower grille, new 16-inch wheel designs, revised seat trims and ecru seat detailing and interior stitching.
Finally, the new colours – the Fiesta can now be specified in Magnetic (metallic grey), Candy Red and Silver Silk hues, and Sport models in some body colours can be optioned with a contrasting roof, including Frozen White, Panther Black, Race Red or Candy Blue.
