Cricket tournament for visually challenged begins

Four-day State-level cricket tournament for visually challenged began at ACA-VDCA Stadium B ground here on Thursday.

Six teams from different parts of the State, including two from Visakhapatnam, are participating. They are divided into two groups and the top team from each group will qualify the final after playing a league format.

The Vizag Blind Cricket Association is organising the tournament. MP of Anakapalle M. Srinivasa Rao inaugurated the tournament and assured support to the association in conducting State and all-India tournaments in future. In the inaugural match, Vizag Challengers defeated Bobbili team by five wickets.

Bobbili scored 196 in 20 overs with Ravi scoring 79.

Tandava Krishna claimed three wickets and E. Anand two for Vizag team.

The local team scored the required runs for the loss of five wickets with two balls to spare. Narayana scored 82 runs. The matches will be played from 8.30 a.m. and 2 p.m. every day.
