DMK suspends two strongmen from South

Karuppasamy Pandian and Anitha Radhakrishnan may join AIADMK

May 15, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:52 am IST - CHENNAI:

The DMK on Thursday placed under suspension former MLA V. Karuppasamy Pandian and sitting MLA of the Tiruchendur constituency Anitha Radhakrishnan on charges of anti-party activities. The announcement has come at a time when the two leaders, who originally belonged to the AIADMK, are planning to return to the ruling party and the DMK is holding its district secretaries meeting on May 25.

Heavyweight

Mr. Pandian, a heavyweight in the AIADMK since the days of MGR, was expelled with other senior leader including S. Ragupathy and Sedapatti Muthaiah in 2000 from the primary membership of the party. He was the Tirunelveli district secretary of the AIADMK at that time of his expulsion.
