A retired, widowed army officer becomes the unlikely champion of the rights of a group of hijras. Rakhi Sawant’s first Marathi production Jayjaykar is a film with heart, and one among 180 films from 44 countries one can view at the upcoming Kashish Mumbai International Queer Film Festival.
Voted among the top five LGBT film festivals in the world, Kashish will be held from May 27-31 at three venues in South Mumbai — Liberty Cinema, Alliance Française de Bombay and Max Muller Bhavan.

With ‘Reaching Out, Touching Hearts’ as the theme for the year, it’s all about the LGBT community reaching out to parents, families, friends, colleagues and peers. Don’t miss American films Boy Meets Girl and Love Is Strange. There will also be film screenings, book readings, panel discussions and performances about Mumbai.
