Mussoorie: Two people have been killed and eight injured in two separate road accidents near Mussoorie on Thursday. The two who lost their lives were in a car that fell into a gorge on the hill town's by-pass road.

The car was carrying five tourists from Rishikesh, who were on their way from Dhanolti to Dehradun. The driver lost control while negotiating a sharp bend on the by-pass road.

Locals rushed to the site of the crash in their vehicles, with jawans of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) joining the rescue efforts, helping save the lives of three people, who are presently receiving treatment in Dehradun.

In another, however less fatal, accident earlier in the morning, a utility van carrying milk lost control and rammed into a vegetable shop. Five pedestrians, all on their way to work, were injured in the accident, which happened on the Landour incline in Mussoorie. Locals rushed them to the Landour Community Hospital, where they were treated for fractures and are said to be out of danger.
