Cyclone destroys set, causes 8 lakh worth damage
Kamaleswar Mukherjee's shoot schedule for his yet-untitled project, starring Prosenjit, Paoli and Raima Sen, suffered a major set-back when a severe cyclone destroyed their set and made damages worth Rs 8 lakh.
On may 11, Kamaleswar and team were shooting at Brahmagiri, a few hours drive from Puri in Odisha. "It was a bright and sunny day and there seemed to be nothing wrong with the weather.
But towards the noon, the sky suddenly became overcast, and within minutes, a cyclone came out of nowhere and uprooted the set. We saw the entire structure blow up in front of our eyes," Kamaleswar rued. The team was supposed to complete the current leg of the shoot by May 15, but now that the set has to be rebuilt, the shoot has been pushed back indefinitely. However, there still is a silver lining to it all. Says Kamaleswar, "We have no control over nature. It a matter of weeks, we have seen two earthquakes and experiences a cyclone first hand. But we must make the best of what we are dealt and that is precisely what my team did. The terrible weather made me visualize a scene in which Prosenjit come walking towards the camera through the storm. The scene wasnt originally in the scripe. But Prosenjit and Soumik (Halder, DoP) were enthusiastic enough to shoot for it impromptu, caring two-pence about the storm."
