KANPUR: In compliance of the court orders, Kanpur Police have started shifting Naubasta police station to a new building in Yashoda Nagar. Now, the people of Naubasta area have to go to Yashoda Nagar to lodge their complaints. The shifting started after the circle officer of Govind Nagar and station officer of Naubasta police station offered special prayers at the new building on Tuesday evening.
A source in the police department stated that since the building was still incomplete and its finishing would take around one month time, therefore inauguration of the police station would take place later.Armoury, computers, documents and wireless sets have been shifted to the new building. Circle officer OP Singh said, “Malkhana and seized vehicles are still in the old building and their shifting will take some more time. Special care has to be taken while shifting the goods of Malkhana as they are case property”.
According to police sources, the department would file an affidavit in the court on Thursday to the effect that it had started shifting the Naubasta police station to a new building in compliance of the court orders. The court would be requested to grant two week's more time to shift some goods and case properties that are still lying in the old premises. It may be mentioned that the police department in civil case--Ram Pal Sahu Vs State--had filed an affidavit in the court of civil judge (Senior Division) Kanpur requesting it to grant two months' time for shifting the police station, but the presiding judge Harendra Bahadur Singh had granted only 15 days time and fixed May 14 as the next date for compliance of his orders.
Naubasta police station was working on a plot of land belonging to one Ram Pal Sahu. Sahu filed a suit in which he claimed that Juhi police had taken illegal possession of a room of his plot and set up Naubasta police post, and that later the police post was converted into police station.
Later, he filed an eviction suit against Naubasta Police in 1983 which was decided ex-parte. He thereafter filed a petition for execution of the decree in the court in 1987.
