NAGPUR: If Narayani can do good Sharanya can do even better. There is some interesting healthy competition between these two eleven-year-old Adane twins which keep them going for bigger laurels on the chess board.
The talented twins made the city proud by finishing second and third (U-11 age category) in the Fide rating chess tournament which concluded recently at Bhopal.

While Sharanya clinched the second spot, Narayani finished third in the U-11 category. Both pocketed five points each from ten rounds in the six-day tournament in which several Grandmasters and International Masters took part. GM Shyam Sunder of Tamil Nadu emerged champion, while another GM Sahaj Grover finished runner-up.
On May 2, Narayani had created a record by becoming the youngest ever city player to secure a place in the Maharashtra women's team when she finished fourth in the senior state selection Fide rating chess tournament in Nagpur.
A couple of weeks later in Bhopal, it was Sharanya, who stole the show by displaying wonderful performance in the field packed with quality GMs and IMs. Bhagyashri Patil of Jalgaon was the winner in the U-11 section.
Promising girl Sharanya could have pipped Bhagyashri for the top spot but she did not get the desired results in the last few of rounds.
Overall, it was a brilliant show by Adane twins, who are studying in Standard VI at the Bhavans Shrikrishna Nagar branch, Wathoda.

Proud father of Sharanya and Narayani, Vinayak Adane, was pretty satisfied with the duo's performance.
"Both my daughters played really well in Bhopal. They could have performed even better had few games went in their favour. Our aim behind participating in this major senior tournament was to get exposure and earn some important Elo rankings points. We are happy that we have managed to achieve our target," said Adane.
Saloni Patel, Shalaka Pagey (U-13), Shailesh Dravid and Om Vitalkar were some of the other city youngsters who also excelled in Bhopal. With so many upcoming players in the age group of 10 to 15 years doing well in the Fide rating tournaments, Nagpur chess is poised for more glory in the years to come.
