Padma Bhushan to Shivakumara Swami

May 14, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 06:00 am IST - Tumakuru:

Additional Chief Secretary V. Umesh of the State government presented the Padma Bhushan to the seer of Siddaganga Mutt, Shivakumara Swami, on the mutt premises here on Wednesday.

The seer could not make it to the award-presentation ceremony on April 8 at the Rashtrapathi Bhavan in Delhi, so it was given to him at the mutt on behalf of the Union and State governments.

After receiving the award, Dr. Shivakumara Swami said: “I had not aspired for this award.” He urged government officials and employees to work with sincerity and honesty, and to serve society selflessly.
